As the first Navy flag officer assigned to Multinational Force Iraq, he notably coordinated Saddam Hussein’s first court appearance after capture and served in key Pentagon roles including Deputy Chief of Information. During his military service, he led Combat Media Pools, oversaw training of hundreds of public affairs personnel, and mobilized numerous reserves post-9/11.\nFollowing his military career, Slavonic served as Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Manpower and Reserve Affairs (2017-2021), where he successfully managed personnel policies and recruiting for both Navy and Marine Corps. His private sector experience includes leadership roles in media, presidency of FlagBridge Strategic Communications, and current position as CEO of Blue-Water Strategies, LLC. He has authored four books, served as executive director of the Jim Thorpe Association, and works as an adjunct professor at the University of Central Oklahoma. He resides in Oklahoma City with his wife Molly, where he maintains active involvement in the sports community, including former partial ownership of the Oklahoma City Cavalry basketball team.\n \nFollow MidstreamCalendar.com for upcoming industry events.
