DESCRIPTION:This article is brought to you by Altamira, engineering & environmental consultants specializing in environmental compliance, ESAs, SPCC SWPP Planning\n\nApplication Deadline Extended: July 15, 2026\nAs part of its charter, the Louisiana Gas Association (LGA) proudly sponsors Public Education and Public Relations initiatives, including annual scholarship\nawards to qualifying students attending accredited four-year colleges and universities.\nSince 1998, the LGA has awarded more than $258,000 in scholarships to support higher education and invest in the future of our industry and communities.\nEligibility Requirements\nApplicants must be the son, daughter, legal ward, or dependent of an employee meeting the following criteria:\n\nThe employee must work for an active LGA member company that has maintained membership for at least one full calendar year prior to the scholarship deadline.\n\nCompanies providing multiple utilities, products, or services are eligible only if\n50% or more of job functions are directly related to the natural gas transmission\nor distribution industry.\nThe member company must conduct 50% or more of its work in Louisiana.\nCurrent or past LGA Board Members employed by an active member company are eligible,\nregardless of primary work location.\n\n\nThe required Employee Verification Form must be completed by the employee, signed by the company’s primary representative, and mailed with the application.\nApplications submitted without this form or required signature will be considered incomplete.\nA member company is considered active and eligible if an employee attended the LGA\nAnnual Operations Conference or an LGA Educational Seminar during the previous calendar year.\nApplicants are considered without regard to race, color, national origin, age, sex, religion, handicap, or veteran status.\nPrior LGA scholarship recipients are not eligible to reapply.\nIndividual or Special Members and their employees are not eligible.\n\nScholarship Criteria\nUndergraduate Criteria\n\nMust be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university (or a combined four-year and specialty program, such as nursing school).\nMust have completed at least 60 credit hours (Junior or Senior classification).\nMust be 25 years old or younger at the time of application.\nMust be actively enrolled at the time of application submission.\nMust demonstrate well-rounded involvement through extracurricular activities, leadership roles, club participation, or community service.\n\nMaster’s Degree Criteria\n\nMust be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program at an accredited institution.\nMust demonstrate academic excellence and leadership within their field of study.\nNo age restriction applies\n\nScholarship Awards\nAward amounts are determined annually by the LGA Board of Directors and granted by consensus of the Scholarship Committee.\n\nCollege Juniors/Seniors: $2,500 awarded to up to ten qualifying students.\nMaster’s Degree Scholarship: $2,500 awarded to students actively pursuing a Master’s degree.\nCompetitive Scholarship: $5,000 awarded to one student who demonstrates exceptional achievement beyond standard criteria.\n\nApplication Deadline & Notification\nCompleted applications and all required documentation must be postmarked by July 15, 2026 to be considered.\nScholarship recipients are typically announced and awarded in August.\nWe encourage all eligible students to apply and take advantage of this opportunity to further their education with the support of the Louisiana Gas Association.\n
