TORONTO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In a united effort to end breast cancer, Breast Cancer Canada, a national charity dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer research, is calling on Canadians to join their annual nationwide ‘Raise More Challenge.’
The Raise More Challenge invites families, individuals, businesses, schools, and groups from across Canada to participate in raising funds for breast cancer research. The Challenge runs until the end of October, in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Participants can organize a wide range of fundraising activities, from community gatherings and virtual events to personal challenges. The flexible “Create Your Own Fundraiser” model allows individuals and groups to customize their efforts based on their unique skills, interests, and resources, all with the shared goal of raising funds and awareness for breast cancer research. To join individuals and groups can register their fundraising goals at KnowMoreRaiseMore.ca.
“We believe that every contribution, no matter how big or small, brings us closer to better screening methods, treatments, and technology, ultimately moving us toward ending breast cancer,” said Kimberly Carson, CEO of Breast Cancer Canada. “By launching the Raise More Challenge, we are creating a wave of support that will help us accelerate the tremendous progress made possible by breast cancer research.”
Breast Cancer Canada’s long-time partner, Expedia Cruises, is igniting a wave of support with an exciting store challenge across their 160 retail locations nationwide. This initiative invites each store to engage in friendly competition to raise funds to drive impactful results.
John Mast, Senior Director of Global Cruise Marketing at Expedia Cruises, expressed his commitment to the cause: “We are thrilled to unite our retail locations once again for this powerful store-challenge in support of Breast Cancer Canada. Our goal is to generate significant funds that will fuel groundbreaking scientific research and advancements. Through this initiative, we aim to contribute to transformative breakthroughs for breast cancer patients. It’s our way of driving progress this October and giving back to the communities we’re a part of.”
In addition to corporate partnerships, community-driven fundraising has shown remarkable impact. Last year, Lisa Gozlan, a Toronto-based jewelry designer, made a significant contribution to breast cancer research. Her innovative approach, which involved selling her beautifully crafted jewelry, generated over $50,000 in donations. Lisa’s dedication and the substantial funds raised highlight the powerful influence of personal commitment and community support in advancing breast cancer research and care.
“Lisa Gozlan is once again supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month with two special products that we believe will truly resonate with Canadians. We have The Pink Bow Bracelet, which has already launched, and are introducing The Pink Mini Jewel Heart Bracelet. We are dedicating 100% of the sales from these items to breast cancer research, with the goal of raising over $50,000 again for Breast Cancer Canada,” said Lisa Gozlan, Founder of Lisa Gozlan Jewelry.
Industry partners are making significant contributions too. BD-Canada is holding a walk at their Toronto offices on October 3 and is hosting an event with a panel discussion and community walk dedicated to breast cancer awareness.
“We are proud to support Breast Cancer Canada’s Raise More Challenge and contribute to advancing breast cancer research,” said Ivy Parks, President of BD-Canada. “Breast cancer has personally affected many of us, making October particularly meaningful. Our employees are dedicated to raising funds and awareness—and we are committed to driving forward research that can change lives and improve outcomes for those facing a breast cancer diagnosis.”
Thank you to everyone who has supported our mission and contributed – your dedicated efforts are essential in driving progress in breast cancer research and care. We invite everyone to join us in this important cause, as together, we can make a difference toward ending breast cancer.
