Houston, TX — 2025 Alterrus LLC, a leader in the design and installation of helical piles, is proud to announce remarkable achievements and steady growth since its founding in late 2022 by Casey Palenshus. In nearly three years, the company has established itself as a trusted partner for critical energy infrastructure projects across the United States with success in key regions such as the Permian Basin, Bakken and across the Southwest Region, providing innovative foundation solutions that prioritize both performance and safety.
Comprehensive Services
Alterrus LLC offers a full suite of services tailored to the unique demands of each project. Their comprehensive approach includes in-house engineering to analyze soil conditions, material supply, precision surveying, expert installation, welding, and thorough as-built documentation. This integrated service model ensures that project owners receive optimal support throughout the foundation installation process.
“Our team is committed to a seamless transition from design to execution,” states Casey Palenshus, founder of Alterrus. “By managing every aspect in-house, we can deliver more efficient and reliable results, meeting the expectations of our clients, even under tight project schedules.”
Commitment to Safety
Safety is the cornerstone of Alterrus’s operations. The company’s “Goal Zero” initiative underlines its unwavering commitment to preventing workplace injuries. Since its inception, the firm has proudly achieved zero lost-time incidents across more than 90,000 labor hours. Each day begins with a safety briefing, ensuring that all team members are aware of potential hazards, fostering a proactive safety culture on every job site.
Advanced Tools and Facilities
Alterrus employs cutting-edge tools and technologies to enhance efficiency and safety in their operations. High-torque hydraulic drives allow for the installation of up to 200 piles per day, while digital logging systems capture real-time data to verify bearing capacity. The recent establishment of a new 15,000-square-foot shop in Midland will further enhance production capabilities, increasing response times and lowering costs for field crews to better serve our clients in the Permian Basin and surrounding areas.
Current Projects and Expansion
Alterrus is currently engaged in significant projects that exemplify its capabilities, including an 800-MWh BESS ( Battery Energy Storage Systems )in Reeves County, TX, where screw piles are being installed to expedite schedule and meet the demand of the end user, and a 345-kV Transmission Upgrade in East Texas, where helical piles are replacing timber poles in challenging soft soils. With first-quarter bookings for 2025 already surpassing total bookings for all of 2024, Alterrus is preparing for further expansion. This summer, the company plans to hire an additional 15 field staff and two engineers, and will open a training yard near San Antonio for drill-rig operators and welders.
Words from the Founder
“Fast schedules and soft soil can wreck a job. Helical piles solve both problems if you plan the work and design for these challenges,” says Palenshus. “Our crew owns the plan from the first drawing to the last weld.”
