This certification program focuses on improving excavator safety and preventing accidental damage to underground facilities. Training covers Oklahoma’s Underground Facilities Damage Prevention Act, contact center procedures, and industry best practices.
Topics include:
- Planning & Administration of Excavation Projects
- Site Preparation & Safe Excavation Practices
- Trenching Hazards, Damages & Consequences
A 25-question certification exam will follow the course. Participants must score 80% or higher to receive certification.
11:00 AM – Line Locating

Gain field-level insight from a professional line locator and learn practical approaches to locating underground utilities safely and accurately.
11:30 AM – OCC Damage Prevention Team
Presented by the Oklahoma Corporation Commission
Learn about the Oklahoma Underground Facilities Damage Prevention Act and the collaborative efforts between OCC and OKIE811 to improve safety, compliance, and excavation practices near pipelines throughout the state.

This session covers OSHA Standard 1926 Subpart P, including soil classification, sloping and benching, hydraulic shoring systems, protective system requirements, engineered data, and trenching safety best practices.
3:00 PM – Confined Spaces

Learn how to identify and manage confined space hazards, including employee protection requirements, confined space assessments, training procedures, and rescue protocols.
