Join Us for the GPA Midstream Houston Scholarship – Nov 6, 2026 – Houston, TX

The Houston Gas Processors Midstream Association (HGPA Midstream) supports the next generation of energy professionals through its scholarship program, providing financial assistance to students interested in pursuing careers in the midstream oil and gas industry.

For the 2026 fall academic year, the Houston Chapter plans to award $25,000 or more in scholarships. Individual award amounts will vary depending on the total number of recipients selected.

Scholarship Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled as a full-time student taking at least 12 credit hours and entering at least the second year of a two-year or four-year undergraduate degree program in the 2026 school year, or entering a professional trade school program.
  • Have completed at least 12 credit hours at the time of application.
  • Be pursuing a degree in engineering, construction management, supply-chain management, finance, business, engineering technology, or an applicable trade such as welding or petroleum technology.
  • Be from the HGPA Midstream Region, including San Antonio, Austin, Houston, New Orleans, and surrounding communities and counties served by the midstream energy industry and HGPA.
  • Be from the Texas Gulf Coast Region and HGPA Service Area.
  • Maintain a minimum 2.8 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in pursuing a career in the oil and natural gas midstream industry.
  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Complete the online scholarship application.
  • Submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words.

How Applications Are Evaluated

The Scholarship Committee evaluates applications based on merit and each applicant’s interest in pursuing a career in the midstream industry. Applicants are encouraged to highlight relevant education, personal interests, volunteer experience, family connections to the industry, extracurricular activities, and energy-related internships.

Additional considerations may include the quality of the application, industry involvement, declared major, experience, and GPA.

Application Deadline

Applications for the 2026 fall semester must be submitted online by November 6, 2026.

The Houston GPA Midstream Scholarship Committee will review applications and announce scholarship awards by December 2026.

Scholarship recipients will be invited to an HGPA luncheon for networking and recognition. Scholarship checks will be sent directly to the recipient’s registered university before the following semester.

About the Scholarship Program

HGPA Midstream provides scholarships each year to support students preparing for careers in the midstream industry. The program is designed to help develop future professionals who can contribute to the continued growth of the midstream and gas processing industries in the Houston market.

Funding is made possible through company sponsorships, donations, and fundraising events throughout the year, including annual golf tournaments and sporting clay events.

Scholarship Committee Objectives

The HGPA Scholarship Committee works to:

  • Increase awareness of the HGPA Scholarship Program on college campuses.
  • Promote awareness of the gas processing industry among engineering faculty and students.
  • Encourage networking opportunities between GPA members and students.
  • Solicit student applications for scholarship consideration.
  • Review applications and essays and provide candidate recommendations to the Board.
  • Notify successful candidates and invite scholarship recipients to the HGPA Regional Conference for recognition.
