Purpose
The San Antonio Pipeliners Association (SAPA) provides an opportunity for “peer-to-peer” networking for individuals involved in the pipeline and midstream industries. Monthly meetings are held at a local hotel in San Antonio and include a time of networking, a buffet meal, and a speaker. Topics range from technical issues important to the industry, governmental affairs affecting the industry, or academia efforts to prepare and influence the next generation toward a career in the oil and gas industry.

Secondly, SAPA hosts fund-raising events throughout the year to raise money for scholarships. Funds for the scholarships are raised through golf tournaments, clay shoots, and fishing tournaments held throughout the fiscal year.

SAPA provides scholarships to deserving second, third, fourth or fifth-year college students pursuing a bachelor or graduate degree in math, science, or engineering. Approximately one half of the scholarships are distributed to relatives of SAPA members in good standing. To be in good standing, a member is required to pay yearly membership dues and attend a minimum of four meetings, evidenced by signature and attendance records, during the calendar year preceding the review of the relative’s scholarship application. Scholarship recipients must be enrolled as full time students (minimum 12 hours). Remaining scholarships are distributed on a need basis to deserving full time students who have been recommended by a south Texas college or university dean of math, science, or engineering. The scholarship winners are announced at the June monthly meeting and funds are distributed directly to the college or university.
Who can join?
Membership is open to exploration, production, engineering, construction, consulting, equipment, and supply companies either located or actively working in south Texas and involved in the onshore midstream business activities of gathering, treating, conditioning, transporting, processing, and above and below-ground storage. Membership is also open to academia from local and south Texas colleges and universities who have an interest in preparing students for careers in the oil and gas industries. Become a member here.
Can I attend a meeting without joining?
Anyone can attend a meeting by purchasing a ticket. The per person cost for the luncheon is $60 for members and $75 for non-members and guests.
