Grant underscores Santander Consumer’s continued dedication to the Dallas community

Funding earmarked for local youth education and development

DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Santander Consumer USA Inc. (“Santander Consumer”) and the Santander Consumer USA Inc. Foundation (“SC Foundation”) today announced a grant of up to $500,000 for City Year Dallas, a long-term SC Foundation grantee, aimed at supporting education and youth development in the Dallas community. This grant includes $200,000 in direct funding, with an additional $300,000 available in matching funds to encourage outside contributions.

The grant, covering the period from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, will be used to recruit, train and support a diverse group of 60 young adults to serve as Corps Members in six Dallas Independent School District (ISD) and Uplift Education schools – three per district – across South and West Dallas during the 2024-2025 school year. City Year’s work in these schools focuses on providing critical academic and social-emotional support to students, helping them stay on track to graduate and succeed. The grant also marks the latest step in the SC Foundation’s longstanding commitment to investing in social and economic development and mobility throughout the Dallas, Texas area.

“We are proud to embark on this next chapter of our ongoing relationship with City Year and support their mission to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people in Dallas,” said Bruce Jackson, Head of the Santander US Auto Business and CEO of Santander Consumer USA. “This grant underscores our commitment to bolstering our local communities through education and empowering the next generation with the resources and support they need to achieve their full potential.”

City Year has been an integral partner in Santander’s efforts to improve educational outcomes in Dallas and other major cities across the United States. In 2022, Santander US announced a $2.5 million, three-year commitment to City Year, building off of Santander’s decade-long relationship with the organization that included $5 million in contributions to support City Year’s work across six cities.

“This funding will allow us to expand our efforts in Dallas, providing more students with the guidance and encouragement they need to thrive, and inviting the broader community to join us in this vital work,” said Heather Holland, Senior Vice President and Executive Director at City Year Dallas. “We’re thrilled to be deepening our partnership with Santander to deliver even greater results for the greater Dallas region.”

This latest contribution underscores Santander’s focus on three key global community pillars: Education, Entrepreneurship, and Employability. By investing in these pillars, Santander aims to drive social and economic progress in the communities where it operates
