Job Summary:

The CAD Drafter is responsible for preparing detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using design software such as MicroStation, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks. This role plays a key part in supporting engineering and construction teams by developing accurate design plans and renderings for civil and structural projects, including earthwork, grading, concrete foundations, and utility systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in civil/structural drafting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple drafting tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drafting & Design: Create high-quality 2D and 3D drawings for civil and structural components using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and SolidWorks.
  • Structural Detailing: Produce detailed structural drawings, including concrete takeoffs and foundation layouts.
  • Rendering & Visualization: Generate 3D renderings and visualizations of proposed designs to support engineering presentations and client communications.​
  • Plan Interpretation: Read and interpret engineering blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to ensure drawing accuracy.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and project managers to understand design intent, make revisions, and deliver finalized drawings on time.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all drawings comply with company standards, regulatory requirements, and project scope.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized files and documentation of all project-related drawings and revisions.

Requirements:​

  • Proficiency in MicroStation, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in civil/structural drafting.
  • Experience with dirt work grading, concrete takeoffs, and utility layout drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of civil and structural design standards.
  • Ability to produce both 2D and 3D construction drawings and models.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in drafting.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with engineers and project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience drafting for projects such as transmission lines, substations, or other energy-related infrastructure.
  • Formal training or certification in CAD software.
  • Familiarity with GIS integration and survey data processing.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily office-based, with occasional site visits as required.
  • May require extended periods of screen time and computer use.
