The American Petroleum Institute (API) will host its annual Pipeline Information eXchange (PIX) on Wednesday, November 11, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Westin Houston Memorial City, followed by a reception for attendees.

PIX provides a forum for pipeline operators to share information and lessons learned across a range of topics, including pipeline incidents, near misses, industry best practices, and improvements to pipeline safety programs.

Built around the industry’s strong culture of sharing lessons from incidents, near misses, and process improvements, PIX supports API’s commitment to advancing pipeline safety and preventing similar incidents.

Pipeline Safety Workshop

API will also host a separate pipeline safety workshop on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at the Westin Houston Memorial City. The workshop will initiate work on revising API Standard 1163, ILI Systems Qualification, 3rd edition, and gather initial input from industry subject matter experts as API begins developing the 4th edition.

Additional workshop details will be provided in the coming weeks.

Please Note: The November 10 pipeline safety workshop is open to all interested participants. The November 11 PIX is for pipeline operating company representatives only.

API is seeking participation from pipeline operating companies for the 2026 PIX Forum. Presentations should share practical lessons learned from incidents, near misses, day-to-day operations, or process improvements that can support continuous improvement and pipeline safety.

The conference will feature presentations organized around topic areas or themes in 90-minute blocks. Presentations should be limited to 25 minutes, followed by a 5-minute Q&A, and should use approximately 10–15 slides focused on key learnings. Panel sessions may also be developed based on submitted abstracts and common themes.

Suggested Topic Areas

• Lessons learned from incidents and investigations across pipeline operations, including facilities and control rooms
• Personnel safety incidents and near misses
• Damage prevention, excavation safety, and right-of-way hazards
• Lessons learned in assessing leak detection systems and programs
• Facility integrity incidents and best practices
• Asset integrity, including geohazard management, cracking, cycle management, corrosion, risk models, and natural gas pipeline Mega Rule compliance
• Data analytics and integration, including Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
• New technologies for pipeline safety and innovation
• Public engagement and public awareness best practices
• ESG and sustainability practices, including conservation programs on pipeline rights-of-way

The topic areas are provided as guidance and are not restrictive. Other topics and ideas for information sharing are welcome.

Multiple submissions from operating companies are welcome and encouraged. Each submission must use a separate email address.

Important Dates

Call for Abstracts Deadline: September 11, 2026

Selected Presenters Notified: No later than September 25, 2026

Presentation Submission Deadline: October 23, 2026

Approved presentations must be submitted by October 23 to allow sufficient time for API legal review.
