ABOUT CHAD ROBICHAUX
Chad is a former Force Recon Marine and DoD Contractor with eight deployments to Afghanistan as part of a Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) Task Force. After overcoming his personal battles with PTSD and nearly becoming a veteran suicide statistic, Chad founded the Mighty Oaks Foundation, a leading non-profit, serving the active duty, military veteran and first responder communities around the world with highly successful faith-based combat trauma and resiliency programs. Having spoken to over 275,000 active-duty troops and led life-saving programs for over 4,000 active military and veterans at four Mighty Oaks Ranches around the Nation, Chad has become a go-to resource and is considered a subject matter expert on faith-based solutions to PTSD, having advised the former Presidential Administration, Congress, the VA, the DoD, and was appointed to serve as the Chairman of a White House Veterans Coalition. https://www.mightyoaksprograms.org/speaker/chad-m-robichaux/.
Special Assignment Scout, Kansas City Royals
Darwin Pennye was named a Special Assignment Scout in February, after spending the last five years with Kansas City’s Urban Youth Academy, including the last four years as the Executive Director. In that role, he was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Urban Youth Academy, which provides the youth of Kanas City with a dual opportunity, to develop into high-character, productive members of society, and to learn the skills of baseball.
Prior to joining the Urban Youth Academy, Pennye had a successful career as a High School Athletic Director, coach and educator in Texas. He most recently served as the Athletic Director and head baseball coach for the Logos Preparatory Academy in Sugar Land, Texas. Before that, he was the Athletic Director and head football coach for three seasons at Bay Area Christian High School in League City, Texas. He also served as an assistant coach at St. Pius High School in Houston and was a minor league coach in the Houston Astros organization for two seasons.
Pennye’s career as a coach and educator followed a five-year professional playing career from 1988-92. He was a 37th-round pick by Pittsburgh in the 1988 Draft, and spent four years in the Pirates organization, before playing for the Montreal Expos Double-A team in 1992. Pennye played baseball collegiately at Texas State University and was inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Honor in 2018.
